My Travel Bucket List.

21 Feb

I haven’t actually made up my list yet, but I can definitely feel it coming. I am inspired almost daily about different places I hear about, see in movies or see pictures of. England is definitely a high priority when we get into international traveling… Australia is very beautiful and Im sure I wouldn’t ever be able to be sick of my own country’s beauty, so husband and I will be sticking to Australian travel for atleast the next 5 years. When we feel its right, though, the first stop will be England.

Now, I know England is full of beauty and fun, but one thing Ive always wanted to do is probably not on the Travel Bucket List of most people.

“…I bounded, leaped, and flew down the steep road [from Wuthering Heights]; then, quitting its windings, shot direct across the moor, rolling over banks, and wading through marshes: precipitating myself, in fact, towards the beacon-light of the Grange.”

 Chapter 17, Wuthering Heights.

I want to go to the Moors!

Wuthering Heights is my favourite book. I love absolutely everything about it. Heathcliff doesn’t scare me, and Cathy doesn’t annoy me nearly as much as she does other people! As a redheaded, freckly and pale AUSTRALIAN I can honestly say I even love the weather in the book.. It would suit me completely. Everytime I get into the car I exclaim “I hate this place! Why did my ancestors even get on the boat!”* 😦 I know its awful, but thats what Queensland in February will do to you. Somewhere freezing does seem heavenly some days, because here, in February I can’t even think about tights, coats and knitwear without sweating psychosomatically.

Anyway, moving swiftly on…  I can’t wait to one day visit England and to visit Jane Austen’s house, wander around London and play in the Moors.

This picture gives me serious Wuthering Heights flashbacks.

*I dont hate my country… I love it completely and I doubt I’d move even if given the chance.

Nothing Happier…

“There is no greater risk than matrimony.
But there is nothing happier than a happy marriage.”

We take photos!

Today Andrew had to help pick up some furniture for his brother, who is in the army and is moving up to Darwin in one month. So, Alice and I went for a long walk with my mum and then came home to a boiling hot house… Its almost AUTUMN and its not showing any signs of getting cooler 😦 Anyway, we decided to spend some time taking photos since I recently got a tripod for the purpose of self timed photos. It was alot of fun! I kind of wish I could find a remote trigger for my camera, but the only ones I can find are for DSLRs… and I have a fujifilm ‘bridge’ camera. Ill have to research it a bit more.

Alice is pretty good at having her photo taken when the photographer is behind the camera and can make funny little noises that make her tilt her head. She wasn’t too good with the tripod though, she kept looking for her ugly purple pig toy, so I just sat the toy on top of the camera, and that solved it!

This is Alice and her purple pig. I got it for her because I wanted her to have a stuffed toy, that wasn’t so pretty that I wouldn’t mind it getting destroyed. I never expected it to be her favourite toy! She loves just lying around squeaking its tummy. Funny girl.

My Fuji instax photos needed a home.

I made this quite a while ago (like 6 months). It was so easy and really fun. I got to use Andrew’s staple gun!

We house these two boards at the end of our hallway, and its nice to look at as we’re walking down.

All I used –

– two canvases

-material to cover them and some extra so it reaches around the back

-staple gun and staples

– split pins

I wish I could make more, but we dont have anywhere to hang them, or anything to put in them.

I love this verse.

Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares

My little brother.

11 Feb

On Saturday my little brother is going to Bah Rain to visit his girlfriend. Bah Rain is and Arab country, an hour from Dubai. I am worried about him, but not really about the country, more about the plane ride and finding the next gate in Dubai. Noone knows how long he’s going for, so I dont really like that I dont know when we’ll see him again. Im sure he’ll be ok though. There will be lots of praying around here!

Thats him, doing what he does best. Since his girlfriend left he’s been on his phone constantly, all hours too because of the time difference.

Sunday Picnic

6 Feb

Today we had a picnic at Victoria Point after church.

We ate sandwiches.

Alice ate a pine cone.

There were hugs.

And lots of photos, both digital and Holga.

There was a looong swim.

And a daddy to save puppy when she got tired.

There was also a nice scratchy towel for afterwards.

Today was a nice day.
