I heart Brisbane.

17 Apr

A week ago we went into Brisbane really early in the morning and wandered around taking pictures and shopping at the Borders which is closing. Dont get me started on that though, I loved the Brisbane Borders- it was three stories and in the perfect position. We ALWAYS went there when in the city even if we didnt need to! Anyway despite that, I really love my city. Its gorgeous, and its mine.

My Brisbane.

14 Jan

I love Brisbane. Its MY city. Its where my mother would take me during the days occasionally as a three year old. Its where Andrew and I went on the day he proposed. Its where we had our wedding night. We have spent countless days and nights there in our 21 years.

Its heartbreaking to see it as it is now.

This is in the CBD

Thisis where work gets their vegetables from.

That building is ‘royal on the park’, which is where I had my high school formal.

This is Southbank… This path is ages from the river, normally. Ive walked along there so many times.

The building with the dome on top is the Brisbane Marriott, where we had our wedding night. We walked alon a path in front of it the morning after, which is now not visible for the water.

My whole state is flooded.

75% of Queensland is flooded. The Brisbane river is so much wider than it was a week ago, when I last saw it.

The Brisbane river is supposed to peak at 4am tomorrow morning. The RSPCA at Fairfield has had to evacuate all of its animals. The Wivenhoe Dam was nearly 200% full, last I heard- which doesnt really make sense to me.

Pretty sure theres a walking path in front of that building, underneath all that water.

I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
Of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons,
I love her jewel-sea,
Her beauty and her terror –The wide brown land for me!
