While dad is away…

We take photos!

Today Andrew had to help pick up some furniture for his brother, who is in the army and is moving up to Darwin in one month. So, Alice and I went for a long walk with my mum and then came home to a boiling hot house… Its almost AUTUMN and its not showing any signs of getting cooler čśŽ Anyway, we decided to spend some time taking photos since I recently got a tripod for the purpose of self timed photos. It was alot of fun! I kind of wish I could find a remote trigger for my camera, but the only ones I can find are for DSLRs… and I have a fujifilm ‘bridge’ camera. Ill have to research it a bit more.

Alice is pretty good at having her photo taken when the photographer is behind the camera and can make funny little noises that make her tilt her head. She wasn’t too good with the tripod though, she kept looking for her ugly purple pig toy, so I just sat the toy on top of the camera, and that solved it!

This is Alice and her purple pig. I got it for her because I wanted her to have a stuffed toy, that wasn’t so pretty that I wouldn’t mind it getting destroyed. I never expected it to be her favourite toy! She loves just lying around squeaking its tummy. Funny girl.

Alice’s first swim at the beach!

18 Jan

This weekend we went to the Gold Coast to give Alice her first swim on a beach, (she’s already swam in a pool). She didnt really like it, and only went in to get her ball. Andrew was very disappointed and really wants a dog that loves water.

After that, I wandered around and took photos while Andrew went swimming at the human beach, which is significantly better looking

On Wednesday afternoon Andrew and I went with mum and Dave to see if we could see the citycats and the other boats that had to be moved out of the Brisbane river because of the flood. The news said they had been moved to the Manly boat harbour, at Wynnum-which is where Andrew lived before we got married. Now he’s a Redlands boy čÖé

We love rain around here.

´╗┐´╗┐Up the two terrace flights of stairs the rain ran wildly,

and beat at the great door,

like a swift messenger rousing those within…

Our First Christmas.

26 Dec

Yesterday┬ámorning would have to be the first time in so long, that I’ve woken up excited for Christmas morning. I love Christmas, but since I stopped getting kids toys for Christmas I’ve been less enthusiastic… untill now.

Yesterday┬áwas mine and Andrews first married Christmas (and Alice’s first Christmas ever)..I was so excited! We were already getting up at 3.30 to open presents and then go to my grandma’s house and help cook the Christmas lunch, but I kept waking up from 2.30 excited!

Alice and I

After we helped Grandma alot we went to my mums to drop Alice off there for the day… and came back and had Christmas lunch with everyone. It was great.. I am almost a vegetarian (Its complicated, but I dont eat meat except at my Grandmas… She puts such a little amount in that Im not forced to think about it. My vegetarianism was never a concious decision, I stopped eating meat because I couldnt stand to eat it because I’d always think about where it came from… so when Im able to not do this I do eat it.) but I ate some Turkey on Christmas Day… it was lovingly prepared by my Grandma and I dont feel bad about it čÖé

Turkey, Stuffing, Roast Potatoes, Parsnip, Carrot, Peas... YUM

Grandma always makes a few Christmas Puddings, but I really dont like cooked fruit… neither does Andrew. So we got little mini Trifles each.

Ancient Santa

My engagement ring, picture taken with my Christmas Present.

Normally, I would just go home after Grandmas, NOT eat dinner and play with my Christmas Presents or watch Carols etc… but since Andrew and I got married in April and this was OUR firt Christmas, we went to visit his mum.

We didnt eat anything there but his Aunty, Grandma, Brother etc were all there and it was nice to see them.

David and Tessa.

┬áThis is Andrews Brother, David and his girlfriend Tessa, who I work with. David is home from the army for six weeks. He’s a funny boy. He’s actually older than Andrew, but way shorter. His mum said she could always tell where he was when he was marching in the army because there would be a person sized gap between two people, and she would know he was inside it somewhere.┬á I hope they get married. I love both my potential sister-in-laws at the moment.

Our first Christmas was perfect.
